Butler University Case Study

The Challenge

The Institute for Study Abroad – Butler University, was moving to a large, open concept location with plenty of natural light. The client came to Tayco to help transform the space by creating efficient and inventive office workstations that blended with their blue and green colour scheme. While keeping budget in mind, the possibilities for a modern office were almost endless.

The Solution

Many of the Institute for Study Abroad staff were coming from a private office setting and were looking to continue this.  A mixture of Cosmo and Tayco’s new line, Scene, were seamlessly integrated to maintain a modern atmosphere while still providing elements of privacy. The office workstations were outfitted with a neutral colour palette to keep the space light, using Acacia laminates and low panels with Steel Grey tile fabrics. Tayco also provided the stations with ‘pops’ of colour, using storage accessories in Meadow Green and mobile pedestals with blue and green fabric cushions in Carbon.

A notable design feature was the use of Scene’s flag storage in matching Acacia laminate with the Cosmo office panel. The raised feature, provided a separation between workstations without using a full wall or high panel. This allowed natural light to spread and the space to remain open. The shared feature, which creates more useable storage, rests on a modern and design friendly white picture frame gable leg.

The Result

The Scene and Cosmo integration with splashes of colour, provided an open, bright workspace for Butler University that brought style and efficiency to what was originally an empty canvas. The workplace is visually interesting with integrated workspaces that did not depart from the desire for elements of personal, private space.
