The Challenge
Superior Electric, a trusted provider of power and control solutions, was ready to advance its operations with a refreshed workplace that better supported its growing Teams and evolving workstyles. With a newly developed multi-floor facility, the company needed an environment that reflected both its strong industry reputation and its forward-focused ambitions. Partnering with Tayco’s Dealer, NexTech Business Interiors, Superior Electric set out to create a workspace that combines efficiency, ergonomic adaptability, and cohesive modern design while showcasing the company’s dedication to innovation and quality.
Superior Electric’s new facility features open sightlines, floor-to-ceiling windows, and abundant natural light, creating a connected and inviting workplace. The challenge was selecting furniture that enhanced these architectural elements while maintaining a clean, refined aesthetic.
Working closely with Superior Electric’s in-house architect and multiple departments, the design focused on employee comfort, functionality, and long-term flexibility. Height-adjustable tables support healthy movement, while thoughtfully integrated storage keeps work areas organized without disrupting the open feel.
As a dog-friendly workplace, even the table leg design was carefully considered. Smooth, unobtrusive profiles were selected to prevent leashes from catching, an important detail that helped the Client move forward with confidence.
The Solution
Ergonomic performance was foundational to the solution. Existing built-in work surfaces, constructed from drywall, were thoughtfully retrofitted with Volley J-shaped height-adjustable tables finished in Sable Island laminate. Paired with sleek black metal T-legs, these tables allow employees to transition seamlessly between seated and standing work throughout the day. Implemented consistently across both floors, this ergonomic upgrade supports healthy movement, long-term comfort, and flexibility for a wide range of individual workstyles while preserving the clean, integrated look of the original built-ins.
Superior Electric’s dog-friendly workplace culture required thoughtful consideration at the product level. The t-leg leg design of the Volley height-adjustable tables became a major selling point, as it allows dog leashes to move freely without catching or tangling. Finished in black metal, the clean, unobstructed leg profile blends seamlessly into the overall aesthetic while solving a very real, everyday functional need, reinforcing the company’s commitment to creating a truly employee-focused environment.
Private offices were designed to support both focused individual work and small-group meetings without breaking visual continuity across the workplace. Each office features J-shaped unitized height-adjustable desks in Sable Island laminate, providing ample surface area and ergonomic flexibility while maintaining a consistent aesthetic throughout the facility. Supporting storage includes Metro credenza cabinets, Metro bookcases, and Metro hutches with hinged doors, with select offices incorporating a Metro wardrobe integrated directly into the credenza. While the configuration of each office varies based on individual needs, the shared finishes and coordinated product family create a sense of personalization without fragmentation, reinforcing cohesion across departments and fostering an inviting, connected workplace environment.
The Result
Superior Electric’s new workplace is a cohesive, employee-focused environment that balances ergonomic performance, personalization, and design consistency. With Volley height-adjustable tables integrated throughout both open work areas and private offices, employees can easily adapt how they work, supporting healthy movement and ergonomic continuity across all departments.
Private offices provide a strong foundation for focused work and small meetings, featuring J-shaped unitized height-adjustable desks in Sable Island melamine, paired with coordinated Metro storage solutions. Variations in credenzas, bookcases, hutches, and integrated wardrobes allow each space to reflect individual needs, while shared finishes and product families maintain a unified aesthetic across the facility.
The dog-friendly design of the workspace proved to be a meaningful success. Volley’s open gable leg construction allows leashes to move freely without catching, addressing a unique functional requirement and reinforcing Superior Electric’s people-first culture.
